Tears! More than 70 years after the sacrifice of Shandong martyrs, 97-year-old martyrs received "wedding photos"

"Xia Hongyan sacrificed for his country, and I want to keep my family for him!" After his wife Ge Mingzhi learned of her husband’s sacrifice, she lived alone with her adopted son Xia Tingyue in the countryside for more than 70 years and practiced this promise with her whole life. Xia Hongyan, born in August 1921, was born in Sunguo Village, Liuji Town, Dong ‘e County. He joined the army less than half a year after his marriage. He disappeared in the Huaihai Campaign in 1948 and was chased as a martyr in 1957.

Dong ‘e County Veterans Affairs Bureau continues to expand the depth and breadth of the work mode of "establishing files, establishing cards and providing accurate services" for retired soldiers and other special care recipients. In the process of conducting regular visits to contact military martyrs, it is found that the 97-year-old martyr Ge Mingzhi has no children all his life, waiting silently and paying silently! The martyr Xia Hongyan did not leave any photos before his death.

Touched by Ge Mingzhi’s special situation, Donge County Veterans Affairs Bureau actively docked with Lin Yuhui’s studio according to the contents of the Action Plan of Joint Care for Martyrs’ Deeds Compilation and Publicity and Education Center of Shandong Province. "Detective Pen" Lin Yuhui drew a portrait of Xia Hongyan’s martyr when he was young according to the photos of Xia Hongyan’s brother and brother. On May 13th, Lin Yuhui came to Sunguo Village, Liuji Town, Donge County, Liaocheng City to give her husband to Ge Mingzhi, a 97-year-old martyr.

"China People’s Liberation Army Xia Hongyan martyr portrait, hello have a good look, do you miss him?" "think!" Lin Yuhui, a simulated portrait expert, is known as "Detective Magic Pen". For many years, he has been devoted to painting martyrs, and in this special way, heroes can "reunite" with their relatives across time and space. Lin Yuhui opened the portrait of Xia Hongyan’s martyr and looked at her husband who had been away for more than 70 years. The old man Ge Mingzhi felt heavy and excited, and tears welled up several times.

Xia Hongyan has no video data left, so how to restore the true remains of martyrs has become a difficult problem for Lin Yuhui. "Combining the photos of his brother and younger brother, based on this, draw a portrait of Xia Hongyan when he was young." When Xia Hongyan joined the army, he was newly married for less than half a year. Lin Yuhui combined the video data of Xia Hongyan’s immediate family members, combined with his family’s memories of Xia Hongyan’s martyrs, and finally finalized the draft. "This portrait is in military uniform and more realistic."

"Together, it makes her feel that her husband is still there. This is a psychological sustenance. I think it is a support for her later life and her spirit." During the previous visit, Lin Yuhui learned that not only Xia Hongyan’s martyr didn’t leave any photos, but Ge Mingzhi had never taken photos when he was young, so he decided to draw a "wedding photo" for the couple in their youth. After seeing the photos brought by Lin Yuhui, the old man once broke down in tears. "Just looking forward to coming home, just looking forward to having a letter. If you don’t listen to Gu Guantun, his comrade-in-arms, how can you know that you have sacrificed?" Ge Mingzhi told reporters that when he was young, he never thought about going back to his mother’s house, nor did he think about remarriage.

At the event site, the Heroic Warsong Public Welfare Team and the Zicheng Health Management Professional Team of the Lei Feng Volunteer Service Team of Dong ‘e County, who came together, prepared wheelchairs, rice cookers, blood pressure meters, blood glucose meters and voluntary foot care services for Ge Mingzhi.

More than 300,000 revolutionary martyrs died for their country in Shandong Province, and many martyrs left no images or pictures. Since the beginning of this year, Shandong Martyrs’ Deeds Compilation and Publicity and Education Center and Lin Yuhui Portrait Studio have continued to paint martyrs, taking portraits of martyrs as an important carrier to serve their relatives. Lin Yuhui told reporters that the work of painting martyrs is still going on, and more than 120 martyrs have been painted at present.
